Homework Submission

Depending on the course, homework may need to be in PDF format to upload into a course management site used for homework and exams in our distance learning statistics program.

There are several options for getting the homework into a PDF:

  • Scan the pages into PDF using a scanner.
  • Use a word processor and then print to PDF using PDFcreator or similar PDF printer software.
  • Use a fax-to-PDF service (you pay the cost of the service from third party).

Some courses may use a web-based homework system, requiring you to complete the assignment through the website form.

Exams

Similar to homework, depending on the course, you will either need to be able to print and scan completed exams, or complete the exam through web. If you are taking a web-based exam, you will need to record your answers into the web form and submit answers through the online system.

For printed exams, you will need access to a printer to print the exam and then scanner or fax machine (if using fax-to-PDF option) for submitting the exam. Exams will be downloaded from a course management site used for homework and exams. The completed exam will then be uploaded into the same location it was downloaded from. Completed exams will need to be in PDF format for upload.

There are several options for getting the exam into a PDF:

  • Scan the pages into PDF using a scanner.
  • Use a fax-to-PDF service (you pay the cost of the service from third party).

The copy of the exam that is uploaded must be readable.  If it is not readable or you fail to upload it in the time allotted, your instructor may impose the following penalties:

  • Your next exam score might be used for this exam.
  • If this happens on the Final Exam, you will get an I (Incomplete) for the class and take the Final Exam the next time the course if offered.
  • Any other course of action the instructor feels is appropriate.

Each exam has a time limit, and these limits vary by the class. It is your responsibility to understand and adhere to each exam’s rules and limits.
